The best way to brew it
Some coffees reveal their aromas best with a particular brewing method — that’s the recommendation we’re sharing here. Of course, you’re free to experiment with other methods, and we love receiving your feedback.
Meet the Producer
Established in the 1940s in the province of Chiriquí, the Janson family has shaped one of Panama’s most iconic coffee terroirs. Originally a dairy farm, their passion for the land and the unique potential of volcanic slopes soon led them toward coffee. Today, Janson Coffee is recognized worldwide as a benchmark producer, especially for their Geishas, which have won numerous international competitions.
The plantations stretch between 1,350 and 1,700 meters above sea level, across the slopes of the Barú volcano and in the fertile Los Alpes valley. Here, nature sets the rhythm: bright days, cool nights, mineral-rich volcanic soils, and protected biodiversity. Each cherry grows in an environment where ecological balance meets agricultural expertise.
At Janson, nothing is left to chance. Harvesting is done by hand, selecting only perfectly ripe cherries. The lots are then crafted like true micro-creations: controlled fermentation, slow sun-drying, or natural and anaerobic experiments that give rise to some of the world’s most sought-after profiles.
But beyond coffee, Janson is also a story of values: energy autonomy through solar panels, reforestation of surrounding areas, recycling of coffee by-products, and strong support for local communities. Each cup from their farms carries this dual signature: outstanding taste and deep respect for both land and people.
Their Geisha 914 is the perfect illustration: refined, complex, and vibrant, it reflects all the care and passion of the Janson family to deliver not just coffee, but a rare experience.

Origin
In the northwest of Panama, the province of Chiriquí stands as one of the world’s leading regions for specialty coffee. Its lands stretch along the slopes of the Barú volcano, where altitudes often exceed 1,500 meters, offering an extraordinary climate. Sunny days, cool nights, and frequent mists create a thermal contrast that slows the ripening of the cherries, allowing aromas to develop in depth.
The volcanic soil, rich in minerals, nourishes the coffee trees and adds a rare complexity that is revealed in the cup. Combined with preserved biodiversity, primary forests, and rivers that naturally irrigate the plantations, this makes the region a true paradise for coffee.
But what makes Panamanian Geishas truly unique is also the human touch. Local producers, often families established for generations, work in micro-lots with extreme attention to harvesting and post-harvest. Each cherry is picked at perfect ripeness, then fermented and dried according to demanding protocols that elevate the variety.
The result? Coffees of incomparable elegance, with unique aromatic profiles: intense florals, notes of jasmine and bergamot, vibrant tropical fruits, and bright, crystalline acidity. This combination of volcanic terroir, high-altitude climate, and artisanal precision makes Boquete and Chiriquí a legendary origin, capable of producing some of the world’s finest Geishas.
