The best way to brew it
Some coffees reveal their aromas best with a particular brewing method — that’s the recommendation we’re sharing here. Of course, you’re free to experiment with other methods, and we love receiving your feedback.
Meet the Producer
For over 80 years, the Janson family has cultivated the land of Chiriquí with a unique vision: to transform a volcanic terroir into a global reference for specialty coffee. Starting out as a dairy farm in the 1940s, the family quickly recognized the extraordinary potential of the Barú slopes. Their dedication has propelled them among the most respected producers in Panama, with Geishas regularly awarded on the international stage.
Their secret lies in a philosophy both simple and demanding: everything is built on the balance between nature and expertise. Coffee trees grow in a preserved environment, amidst forests and mineral-rich volcanic soils, while each cherry is handpicked only at perfect ripeness. Each micro-lot is then crafted with near-artisanal precision: controlled fermentations, natural or experimental drying, and rigorous sorting that retains only excellence.
But Janson is also a story of values: solar energy, reforestation projects, recycling of coffee by-products, and ongoing support for local communities. The result is a coffee that embodies both taste elegance and sustainability.
The Geisha 929 is the culmination of this quest: a rare and refined coffee, a true reflection of the Janson family’s passion and craftsmanship.

Origin
The Geisha 929 takes root in the highlands of Chiriquí, on the fertile slopes of the Barú volcano. In this unique landscape, the Janson family cultivates its micro-lots, where altitudes rise above 1,600 meters and nature sets the rhythm. Clear days, cool nights, and frequent mists slow the ripening of the cherries, fostering an exceptional aromatic concentration.
The richness of the volcanic soils nourishes the coffee trees and imparts a singular complexity to every bean. Surrounded by preserved forests and natural rivers, Janson’s plots benefit from a rare ecological balance, which translates in the cup into remarkable purity and vibrancy.
This high-altitude terroir, combined with the meticulous know-how of the Janson family — selective handpicking, controlled fermentation, and patient drying — makes this Geisha 929 far more than just a coffee: an exclusive sensory experience, with elegant notes of jasmine, white peach, and crystalline malic acidity.
