At 19 cm wide, the JURA A8 Piano Black is the most compact automatic coffee machine JURA has ever made. It fits between two cabinets, on a crowded countertop or in a studio kitchen, where most bean-to-cup machines simply do not fit. And it does not trade cup quality for that space saving.

Despite its size, it prepares up to 18 specialties: espresso, lungo, flat white and other milk-based drinks thanks to its integrated milk system, plus hot water for tea. Two tasting worlds come together here, Hot Brew for the classic hot drinks and Light Brew for a gentler extraction, with finer aromas and brighter acidity, in the spirit of filter coffee.

For extraction, it comes with the latest-generation P.A.G.3 grinder, the P.E.P.® pulse extraction process and a variable brewing unit from 5 to 16 g. In other words, the technology JURA uses in models that cost much more, in a machine under a thousand francs. It is the most direct way into freshly ground coffee beans, and the simplest way to discover Chronic. specialty coffees at home.

19 cm wide, the most compact JURA

Nineteen centimetres is the width of an A4 sheet placed upright. So the A8 fits where no other bean-to-cup machine can, between the microwave and the wall, on a studio kitchen counter, in a two-metre kitchen or in the corner of an office. At 37 cm high, it also fits under most wall cabinets. And at 8.9 kg, you can move it with one hand when you need to clean behind it. Its format is not a forced compromise, it's the machine's starting point.

18 specialties, including milk-based drinks

At this size and price point, most automatic machines stick to black coffee. The A8 goes further, its integrated milk system lets it prepare flat whites and other milk-based recipes, alongside espresso, long coffee, and hot water for tea. It also offers two extraction methods: Hot Brew for hot classics, and Light Brew for a gentler percolation that brings out the delicate notes and acidity of a specialty coffee, in the spirit of a filter brew. With a single origin Ethiopian coffee or a washed Central American lot, Light Brew completely changes how the cup reads. Cleaning the milk system starts at the touch of a button, and hygiene is TÜV-certified.

The P.A.G.3 grinder and the P.E.P.® process, at no extra cost

That’s where the A8 stands out. JURA fitted it with the third-generation Professional Aroma Grinder, with seven grind settings, and the P.E.P.® pulsed extraction process, which sends water in short pulses to bring out aromas in short coffees. The variable brewing unit takes 5 to 16 g of coffee, so you can adjust the intensity depending on the roast. These are exactly the technical building blocks you find on JURA machines that cost two to three times more. In concrete terms, freshly roasted specialty coffee really gets to shine here, which is far from a given on an entry-level machine.

Is it the right machine for you?

Yes, if you're short on space, if you live alone or as a pair, if you're moving on from capsules and want to switch to coffee beans without giving up half your countertop, or if you're looking for a second machine for an office. Three to five coffees a day, it handles that without a fuss.

You should look elsewhere if there are four of you at home or if you often have people over: the 0.8 litre water tank, the 140 g bean container and the 8-portion grounds container need frequent refilling at that pace. In that case, the JURA E8 or E10 offer twice the autonomy. And if you're interested in cold recipes like Cold Brew or Sweet Foam sweet milk foam, the A8 doesn't offer them, you'll need to go for the E10 or Z10.

On the maintenance side, there's nothing to plan ahead for: the CLARIS Smart+ cartridge is automatically recognised by the machine and makes descaling unnecessary, while the Quality Assistant triggers rinsing and cleaning at the right time. With the optional Wi-Fi Connect V2 module, the J.O.E.® app also lets you control the machine and schedule the first coffee of the day.
